Josef Fritzl's daughter Elisabeth and her six children have moved out of the clinic where they have lived since leaving the home where she was kept prisoner and raped repeatedly over 24 years, according to her lawyer.

The family is now living in a home of their own, Miss Fritzl's lawyer Christoph Herbst said.

Elisabeth Fritzl, now 42, was held captive in a cellar and raped by her father Josef Fritzl for 24 years, bearing seven children by him.

One died shortly after birth, while three were taken to live with Josef Fritzl and his wife.

The other three remained in the cellar with their mother all their lives, never seeing daylight, until one of them had to be taken to hospital in April, bringing the whole scandal onto the open.

The family was later reunited at the clinic in Amstetten-Mauer, where it received medical care and was protected from the media.

Josef Fritzl, 73, has been charged with murder, rape, sequestration, incest, grievous assault and slavery.

Despite being a convicted sex offender, Fritzl was allowed to adopt three of the children after convincing authorities that they were his grandchildren.

According to Austrian law, records on sex offences lapse after 15 years.

Fritzl served 18 months in prison in 1967 for rape. He was also charged with an attempted rape and indecent exposure in public, as well as arson in an alleged insurance fraud.

His trial is expected to begin in March.

nutty thieves

BERLIN (Reuters) - Thieves who stole 660 pounds of hazelnuts in Germany have been urgently warned not to eat them.

Hamburg police spokesman Holger Vehren said the sacks containing the nuts were full of poisonous hydrogen phosphate gas, used to extend their shelf life. The nuts must first be treated to make them safe for consumption.

"We're looking for the perpetrators because they could face a very serious health risk if they eat these hazelnuts," he said. "The gas is even lethal if they inhale it."

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A mother who is suspected of killing her four children, whose decomposing bodies were found in her home, appeared in court Thursday.

Banita Jacks, 33, is charged with three counts of felony murder and one count of first-degree murder while armed.

The victims, who range in age from 5 to 17 years, are thought to be her daughters. Their bodies were found when U.S. marshals served an eviction notice at Jacks' apartment in southeast Washington, D.C.

Court documents say Jacks identified the victims as her daughters Brittany Jacks, 17; Tatianna Jacks, 11; N'kiah Fogle, 6; and Aja Fogle, 5.
